Introduction to the principles which make meditation fruitful with an opportunity to practice and experience the three treasures (Triratna), which are bringing yourself to the present moment, with the teachings in a supportive group. To practice present moment awareness, you may sit in a position that is comfortable for you. This may be on a chair, cushion, bolster or against the wall. You should be able to sit with stretch breaks for about an hour. There will be three individual sits. The first will begin with singing bowls to connect the bodies energy centers with vibration, followed by silence. The second sit will be a guided settling into the body and the breath. The third a meditation on a theme from Buddhist Teachings presented by a highly esteemed and renowned meditator via a recording. We will end with time for sangha and tea. We will listen to recorded Dharma talks of Introductions to Meditation and Courageous Living delivered by eminent teachers including my teacher Jonathan Fourst, a guiding teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington and a founder of the Meditation Teacher Training Institute in Washington as well as senior teacher and former president of Kripalu Center. Dharma recordings by Jack Kornfield, Thanissara, Pascal Auclair, Steve Armstrong, Gil Fronsdal and others. After the sits there will be tea and a sangha discussion and questions and answers. Option to practice present moment awareness and mindfulness after a half and hour of Kripalu yoga postures. Good Will
